Mike Godfrey, possesses one of the most solid perspectives on American founding principles and history. Get a history of taxation in the US prior to 1913, when the Sixteenth Amendment, authorizing the Federal Income Tax, was deemed ratified.

Raised in Pennsylvania, Mike has worked in fields from mechanical engineering to transportation planning and statistics to teaching positions at University of Karlsruhe in (West) Germany, MIT, and Ohio State University, then turning to private industry at Union Pacific Railroad. After leaving UP in 1999, Mike taught music, violin and viola, while actively playing in an orchestra and two bands. Having added an M.S. in Political Science from UNO (2014) to his list of credentials, he currently is teaching the “Kirkpatrick Signature Series” class at Bellevue University.
An avid supporter of Hillsdale College in Michigan, Mike has a keen appreciation for and is an effective apologist for American founding principles. A widower with five grown sons and five grandchildren, Mike lives with his second wife in Omaha.
